No sooner had the man fitted a new handle to his axe from it, than he began to use it and quickly felled with his strokes the noblest giants of the forest. An old oak, lamenting when too late the destruction of his companions, said to a neighboring cedar, "The first step has lost us all. If we had not given up the rights of the ash, we might yet have retained our own privileges and have stood for ages."

It's only taken several months, but the Nintendo Switch will soon be getting its first video app.
????Nintendo Switch niconico????!Nintendo Switch???????https://t.co/OuOADTJOu9 pic.twitter.com/aj3GZWOl1m— [email protected]????? (@nico_nico_info) July 12, 2017 Niconico is a Japanese video streaming app very similar to YouTube, the main difference being that user comments are displayed directly over the livestreams. It was also the first video app introduced on the PS Vita.

Though Nintendo stated that streaming services would be coming in time, there's still no word and no sign of the likes of YouTube, Netflix, Twitch, Hulu, or anything on the way. Hopefully Niconico is just the beginning of the Switch's multipurpose capabilities.

Sadly, this one's for Japan only so unless you've got a Japanese Nintendo account, you'll have to sit this one out. It launches on the eShop this Thursday, July 13th.

Manifold Garden was announced for Apple Arcade a little while ago but the announcement that it would be heading to the service tomorrow certainly came out of nowhere. It's been a real labour of love for developers William Chyr Studio, who started work on the game back in 2012.

Manifold Garden is a first-person exploration game where you'll also have to solve numerous puzzles. Its striking art-style was inspired by Dutch graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher, who not only had a stellar name, he was also known for his drawings of impossible architecture. In particular one print, he made that shows a world that has multiple gravities.

The mind-bending nature of this art style is reflected in the gameplay itself. Initially, you'll see the same geometric patterns stretching across the entire room. You'll have to make use of your powers to manipulate gravity so that you can gain a new perspective on the situation which will allow you to figure out how to progress.

Let There Be Life might just be the most peaceful game there is.

Originally released on PC earlier this year, the simple, puzzle-like nature simulator is now on iOS and Android for £1.49 / $1.99.

Your goal in the game is to nurture a tree into a thriving mass of leafy branches.

The branchier your tree gets, the more shadow it'll cast on the forest floor, which is a problem for the flowers trying to grow there.

The challenge, then, is trying to build up a healthy tree while still making sure the area around the tree can still sustain life.

Let There Be Life was born of a game jam with the theme of "do no harm."

If peaceful, quiet games without too much at stake appeal to you, check out Let There Be Life on the App Store or Google Play for £1.49 / $1.99.

You can also buy the game on PC (at a higher price) from one of several platforms listed on the developer's website.

Don't forget to vote for it on Steam Greenlight if that's your thing.
